NZSA awards

NZSA rewards excellence and achievement within New Zealand Subbuteo with a series of awards in various sectors, with the major individual accolades handed out in late August.

  • NZSA Super League (National Division 1) Subbuteo Awards
  • NZSA League Subbuteo Award

NZSA Men’s Player of the Year
NZSA Women’s Player of the Year

Created in partnership with New Zealand Sports Media (NZSM) group, these awards recognise the best players, irrespective of nationality, playing for a club within the territory of a NZSA member association during the past season. Players are judged on their performances in all competitions – domestic, continental and international – by a jury of sports journalists representing each of the NZSA member county associations, and coaches of clubs in the previous season’s NZSA Super League and NZSA League. Coaches are not allowed to vote for players from their own team.

NZSA Super League Goalkeeper of the Season
NZSA Sup League Defender of the Season
NZSA Super League Midfielder of the Season
NZSA Super League Forward of the Season
NZSA League Player of the Season

Five competition-specific prizes, awarded for the first time in 2017, complement the existing NZSA Men’s and Women’s Player of the Year awards. The awards will be presented during the relevant competition’s group stage draw ceremony.

NZSA President’s Award

This prestigious award recognises outstanding achievements, professional excellence and exemplary personal qualities. Great players such as xxxname, xxxxxname, xxxxname, xxxname, xxxxxname, xxxxname, have won the New Zealand Subbuteo Players of the Year.

  • Other awards

Developing the game

The New Zealand body bestows awards on member associations for outstanding work.

The NZSA HatTrick Awards

Development projects in the 16 NZSA member associations are recognised by the NZSA HatTrick Awards. Five award areas have been drawn up: Best Investment Project; Best Social Project; Best Special Project; Best Women’s Subbuteo Development Project; and Best Host Project. Criteria include mid to long-term legacy, the impact of Subbuteo’s development in the country and the impact on specific social target groups.

KISS Marketing Awards

Marketing is an essential component in Subbuteo, and NZSA recognises associations’ marketing prowess through the annual KISS Marketing Awards – staged under the auspices of NZSA’s Knowledge & Information Sharing Scenario (KISS). Award categories are Best Brand Activation; Best Fan Engagement Campaign; Best Commercial Partnership; Best Grassroots Marketing Campaign and Best Women’s Subbuteo Marketing Campaign. Awards for creativity and innovation are also given in each category.

NZSA Grassroots Awards

Another crucial area of Subbuteo is the game’s grassroots – without a solid foundation, Subbuteo cannot flourish. Subbuteo Table Football is available for everyone, and much sterling work is being undertaken in counties throughout New Zealand. Excellence in this crucial sector is recognised by the NZSA Grassroots Awards. NZSA rewards the winners with gold, silver and bronze prizes in three key areas – best leader, best project and best grassroots club.
